Bunjil Place Gallery Showcases Contemporary Craft

Bunjil Place Gallery is proud to partner with JamFactory Adelaide to present Beautiful Tensions: Gray Street Workshop celebrates forty years to the Casey community.

This acclaimed national touring exhibition, celebrates the 40-year legacy of Adelaide's Gray Street Workshop - one of Australia's most influential and longest-running collectively run studios for contemporary jewellery and object making. Beautiful Tensions showcases new work by current partners Catherine Truman, Sue Lorraine, Lisa Furno and Jess Dare. Through a diverse collection of contemporary jewellery and object-based works, the exhibition explores themes of memory, environment, connection and creativity.

Alongside the exhibition, visitors can take part in a series of free public programs designed to deepen engagement with the artists and the creative practice. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a range of free public programs, including hands-on creative activities in the Gallery and hear directly from Gray Street Workshop's current partners during a special in-conversation event hosted by Anne Brennan.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther said the exhibition highlights the importance of bringing nationally significant arts experiences to the local community.

"We're delighted to partner with JamFactory to bring Beautiful Tensions to Bunjil Place and showcase the remarkable work of Gray Street Workshop," she said.

"This exhibition offers our community a unique opportunity to experience contemporary Australian craft and design, hear directly from leading artists and participate in creative workshops and activities. I encourage residents and visitors alike to explore the exhibition, take part in the public programs and discover the inspiring stories and artistry behind these extraordinary works."
