Bus driver assault at Nambour, QLD

Police investigating the serious assault of a bus driver at Nambour earlier this morning have released the image of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries, Queensland Police say.

Around 9.10am a man boarded the route 631 bus at the Nambour bus terminal, Civic Way and got into an argument with the driver after failing to pay the fare.

The man punched the 74-year-old male bus driver to the head once with a closed fist causing the driver to lose consciousness.

The man exited the bus and was last seen walking through the pedestrian tunnel beneath the Nambour train terminal.

The driver was conveyed to Sunshine Coast hospital for observation with non-life threatening injuries.

The man is described as approximately 19-years-of-age, Caucasian in appearance, dark brown hair,174cms tall with a proportionate build. He was wearing a grey T-shirt, navy blue shorts with white stripes down the sides and block joggers.

Police investigations are continuing.
