Busking Community Consultation Commences

The community is being asked to have their say during a month-long consultation on busking, starting Monday 9 March.

City of Darwin has actively supported busking across the City for many years, encouraging creativity and innovation to activate and add vitality to our city.

In April 2019 Council went a step further and initiated the Busk a Move project, linking entertainers with street food vans, to create vibrant, creative spaces at key beachside locations.

As a diverse city the Darwin community often have very different ideas about how our public spaces should and can be utilised. City of Darwin's aim is to support a community culture where creativity on the street is enjoyable and celebrated broadly through mutual consideration and respect.

City of Darwin is reviewing its busking application process and conditions with a view to improving the process and better meeting the expectations and needs of the community.

City of Darwin is seeking feedback from the community on a number of proposed improvements, including permit fees, busking locations and timing.
