- 'Become a foster carer - Make a difference to a child's life' campaign launches today
- The campaign busts common myths and calls for more foster and family carers
- Foster and Family Carers Week is held from 28 July to 3 August
The Cook Labor Government is calling for more Western Australians to become a foster or family carer, with a State-wide campaign launching today to shine a light on the rewarding opportunities available.
Now in its third year, the 'Become a foster carer - Make a difference to a child's life' 2025 campaign is focusing on breaking down myths that may be holding potential family or foster carers back.
The campaign was launched today at Yagan Square to mark the beginning of Foster and Family Carers Week, held from Monday, 28 July to Sunday, 3 August.
This year's campaign is busting common myths such as what a foster carer household looks like, highlighting you do not need to be married, have children or be in a traditional family to support children in care.
The campaign is also highlighting the flexible types of care to suit a range of lifestyles including temporary, short-term or short break care.
It also highlights the rewarding aspects of becoming a foster or family carer and the difference it can make to a child's life, along with the positive impact fostering can have on biological children, including developing their empathy and fostering a deep sense of community.
The campaign will be running across social media, YouTube, and radio advertising to encourage more Western Australians to open their homes to children in care.
Foster and Family Carers Week is an opportunity to celebrate, acknowledge and thank the 3,300 foster and family carers across WA.
