Butler Firearm Incident - Charges

Joondalup Detectives have charged a man with seven offences in relation to an incident which occurred in Butler yesterday, Monday 13 November 2023.

It will be alleged about 7.30am, a male entered a home on Marchwood Boulevard whilst in possession of a shotgun.

The male then discharged the firearm through a front window of the home about 8.30am and police were called.

Multiple units – including Joondalup Detectives and the Tactical Response Group – attended the home a short time later.

It will be further alleged the male discharged the firearm again from inside the home about 9.30am.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene a short time later.

During a search of the home, a shotgun and ammunition were seized by police.

The Quinns Rock man was charged with;

- Discharged a firearm to the danger of, or in a manner to cause fear to, the public or any person (two counts).

- Unlicensed person possess firearm/ammunition (two counts).

- Possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property.

- Aggravated home burglary and commit.

- Unlawful act or omission with intent to harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person).

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 14 November 2023.

Two occupants of the home – a male and female who were inside at various times during the incident - were uninjured. The 27-year-old man is not known to the occupants.
