Roads Update

Generally, our road crews have had a pretty good run over the last several weeks with some beautiful winter weather.

We are working on filling the many potholes across the Shire and we welcome your notifications. The best way to notify us of particular potholes, or road damage, is via the Report It tab on our website.

Our grader maintenance crew finished drains and pothole repairs in Riverside Crescent at Brunswick Heads and in the coming weeks we will be doing asphalt work in this area.

Our maintenance crew was this week working in Stuart Street and Tincogan Street, Mullumbimby, clearing drains and repairing road edges that were damaged during floods.

At Federal, contractors were grading and preparing Kings Rd for a seal which, hopefully, could be done as early as next week if the weather is good.

Also, at Federal this week – a team was clearing and repairing drains and road edge washouts on Whian Road.

Work on drains and road grading is continuing on Jones Road at Yelgun and this should be finished next week.

On Settlement Road at Main Arm the focus was on rock work and drain repairs and contractors started work on repairing two minor landslips at Upper Main Arm.

Next week work will start on repairing sections of Myocum Road.

Hinterland Roads

Contractors are working on the planning and design for the repair of roads in the hinterland, especially in the Huonbrook area.

As soon as we have information, plans and timeframes we will be in touch with the community.

We very much appreciate your patience and every time we go up there to do work, or to meet with the community, we are struck by the absolute enormity of what some residents are going through.

Update for hinterland residents

There is a bin bank at the intersection of Huonbrook and Wanganui Road for residents beyond this point.

These bins are to share, please do not remove them or swap them from the bin bank.

Normal servicing has resumed on Thursdays for properties on Huonbrook Road to the intersection.
