Victorian Greens Leader Ellen Sandell has said that a cabinet reshuffle will not address the deep challenges facing Victoria after 12 years of Labor. She said this new cabinet inherits a housing crisis, underpaid teachers preparing to strike again and a worsening climate crisis- and none of these will be solved unless more Greens are elected to replace Labor MPs this November.
As stated by Victorian Greens Leader Ellen Sandell:
"We've had 12 years of Labor putting vested interests ahead of people. That's left Victoria with underpaid teachers, soaring rents, and a worsening climate crisis. Labor has shown, under multiple different leaders and Ministers, that it's been unwilling to fix these problems, and we know the Liberals and One Nation will also be disastrous. That's why we need more Greens in our Parliament.
"It's telling that after years of underpaying teachers and education support staff, the new Premier has handballed the education portfolio to his deputy just as teachers prepare to strike again.
"The new Premier has shuffled ministers around the cabinet table but there's no sign that Labor is prepared to cap rents, reverse their terrible decision to demolish public housing, make public transport free, or tax big corporations their fair share.
"Victorians don't need another rebrand. They need a new direction and a genuine progressive alternative to Labor - and that's the Greens."
