Timboon Action, the voice of community and business for over 25 years, has four committee positions open to be filled at the October Annual General Meeting.

The positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer will be declared vacant at the meeting to be held 7 pm, Tuesday 18 October at the Senior Citizens Centre.

South West Ward Councillor Kate Makin appealed to residents to get involved, adding it was important Timboon had an active central group to represent community interests.

"Timboon Action is a voice for the local community and has done such great work over the years.

"It makes a difference to the town and Timboon is better for it," Cr Makin said.

Cr Makin said it was an exciting time to get involved.

"This group has real purpose and there are lots of exciting projects and events on the horizon with the new residential developments, Twelve Apostles Trail, pump track, Great Victorian Bike Ride and food and music events," she said.

"The last two years have shown us there are new ways to connect and meet, and to be involved.

"You just feel like Timboon is on the cusp of a really exciting phase and we genuinely want people to get involved and help shape it," Cr Makin said.

Outgoing President Jeff Bedggood has been involved with the group for around 25 years and said it was time for new people with fresh ideas to get onboard.

"The community has grown and it's a good time for new people to share their ideas and get them up and running," Mr Bedggood said.

"Over the years we've held events such as Jazz on the Rail and Santa in the Street.

"We have worked with other community groups to get projects like the skate park and playground up and running.

"We all love Timboon. It didn't become an award-winning tourist town overnight.

"People have worked together and done their bit to improve the town and that's what has made Timboon," he said.

He said an umbrella group was important to solve problems and help channel funding to different projects in the community.

"All the ground work has been done with the set-up for grants applications and current insurances.

"We just need people to come along to the AGM on 18 October and get involved," he said.
