Calling all skateboard, scooter and BMX enthusiasts

Devonport City Council Tasmania

Skateboard, scooter, and BMX enthusiasts will converge at the Bluff Skate Park to compete for great prizes and bragging rights, as the Know Your Odds competition series returns to Devonport this Saturday, 20 March.

Devonport Mayor Annette Rockliff said the series is a partnership between Devonport City Council and Youth, Family & Community Connections (YFCC) with support from Anglicare's Gamblers Help program.

Cr Rockliff said for the past eight years, the competition has given young people across the North West Coast a chance to show off their skills in a positive way, while also educating competitors and spectators about the many potential pitfalls associated with gambling.

"The competition series has been a regular event for the coast's young people to compete for great prizes, but also to engage with local services and gain relevant information," Cr Rockliff said.

"Council is proud to once again support this important initiative and help engage our young people through an event that helps keep their bodies and minds active, while also encouraging a bit of friendly competition."

The Devonport event will be held at the Bluff Skate Park on Saturday, 20 March with registrations open from 10am, parental consent is required for those under 18 years. The first heat is set to start at 10.30am. It is free to enter and there will

be a junior and senior age division for each of the three sports. Helmets are compulsory for all competitors.

The competition series is also held in Railton, Burnie, Wynyard and Smithton.
