Calling on local children and teens to form outdoor space working group

Those who come together will form a working group which will work with Council to develop a bike track as well as other outdoor spaces where young people can explore and chill out.

Children as young as 10 years can get involved in the group, which will be supported by Strathbogie Shire Council Youth Development Officer Annette Walton.

The group will initially meet weekly and will have a hands-on role in the planning and the design process of the area including the BMX dirt track and any other ideas they raise.

Initially participants would be expected to come along for a four-week period and then as required as the project progresses.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said Council wants youth to explore, create and get their hands dirty.

"We want kids to be kids. Teenagers to be teenagers. To ensure our youth value the amazing environment in which we live," Cr Raeburn said.

"We want to create a space where our youth can create, build and have fun so we encourage children and youth to get involved in this project."

Young people can register their interested by visiting the Share Strathbogie website and clicking on the Outdoor Youth Space project page where you will be able to express your interest to join the group. Visit the page via share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au
