Camden Detectives Charge Gregory Hill in Car Arson

Camden detectives have charged a man after he was allegedly hired to burn out a car in Sydney's southwest last year,

About 11.45pm on Saturday 29 November 2025, emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle and house fire on Audley Circuit, Gregory Hills.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire; however, the car – a Hyundai Kona – was destroyed and the house was significantly damaged.

A 61-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man who were home at the time were able to self-evacuate.

There were no reports of any injuries.

A crime scene was established and detectives attached to Camden Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following extensive investigations, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Stanford Way, Airds, about 7am today (Wednesday 7 January 2026).

During the search, detectives located and seized a jerry can believed to have been used during the incident, clothing and an electronic device.

Following the search, detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at the scene before taking him to Campbelltown Police Station.

He was charged with destroy property in company use fire more than $5,000, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Police will allege in court the man was offered $10,000 to complete the arson by an organised crime syndicate; however, was never paid.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 3 today.
