Camden Council is proud to stand with communities across the country in support of National Road Safety Week, running from Sunday 17 to Sunday 24 May.

Led by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group, National Road Safety Week highlights the devastating impact of road crashes and encourages all drivers to commit to safer behaviours.

This year's theme, "Shine a Light on Road Safety," calls on communities to reflect, take action, and help prevent further loss of life on our roads

As part of the week, Camden Council will:

  • Promote key safety messages across its social media channels;
  • Encourage residents to take the pledge to Drive So Others Survive, committing to safer driving habits and greater awareness of all road users; and
  • Install a large yellow ribbon decal on its building to raise awareness.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the week was an important reminder that everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe.

"Each year in Australia, more than 1,300 people lose their lives and over 40,000 are seriously injured in road incidents. National Road Safety Week is a powerful opportunity for our community to come together and reflect on the impact of road trauma," Cr Fedeli said.

"Every life lost on our roads is one too many, and behind every statistic is a family, a friend, and a community affected by tragedy.

"By making simple choices like slowing down, staying focused, and being mindful of others, we can all help prevent these incidents and save lives.

"I encourage everyone in our community to take the pledge to drive so others survive and commit to making our roads safer for all."
