Today, Deputy Secretary Kurt Campbell exchanged diplomatic notes with President of the Federated States of Micronesia, Wesley Simina, to bring into force new COFA-related agreements. They discussed our deepening partnership which is furthered by the newly enacted COFA legislation. Deputy Secretary Campbell and President Simina discussed our shared priorities in the Pacific including climate change, environmental protection, and methods for protecting Pacific ecosystems. They also spoke about ways to cooperate on our shared vision for a free, open, and flourishing Pacific Islands region.
