Campbelltown Household Chemical CleanOut Returns This September

Residents are encouraged to start their spring cleaning and clear out their garage in time for Campbelltown's annual Household Chemical CleanOut.

Community members can dispose of hazardous household chemicals, free of charge on Sunday 28 September from 9am to 3:30pm at 59 Junction Road, Leumeah.

"Events like the Household Chemical CleanOut give our community a safe and responsible way to get rid of harmful waste and unwanted chemicals that don't belong in household bins," Mayor of Campbelltown, Darcy Lound said.

"I encourage everyone in the LGA to use this as chance to clear out their sheds, garages and cupboards and help keep the community safe from fire hazards as well as our local environment," Cr Lound said.

Household Chemical CleanOut events have been held in Campbelltown for the past several years, where growing community participation has helped achieve nearly 50 tonnes of hazardous and problem waste collected from the 2024 event alone.

Household quantities of the following items can be accepted:

  • Garden and pool chemicals
  • Household cleaning products
  • Hobby and craft chemicals
  • Poisons and pesticides
  • Motor fluids and fuels
  • Motor and cooking oils
  • Batteries
  • Paint
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Smoke detectors
  • Fluorescent globes and tubes

Bookings are not required for this free service. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to use the Community Recycling Centre on Hepher Road, Campbelltown, where many of the same items are accepted year-round and can be dropped off for free.
