ANVO Laboratories to receive $4-million investment to create 45 skilled jobs and strengthen Canada's biomanufacturing production capacity

Advancements in pharmaceuticals support the health of Canadians, as well as the success of our economy. With a growing manufacturing sector, strong healthcare, post-secondary network, and an ideal location between the U.S. border, Windsor, and Toronto, the London region is well poised to support healthcare innovation. The Government of Canada is investing in people so they can reach their full potential and develop new possibilities, so everyone can succeed.

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), joined by Peter Fragiskatos, Member of Parliament for London North Centre, announced an investment of $4 million for ANVO Laboratories (ANVO Labs) to accelerate production to provide high-quality affordable, domestic medications for gastrointestinal, diabetes, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases to Canadians and more globally.

This investment will support ANVO Labs as it equips and staffs its new 62,000-sq.ft., innovative research, development, and production facility in the Advanced Manufacturing Park in London to manufacture tablets and capsules. The new global headquarters will continue to foster connections with the local health sciences ecosystem, colleges, and universities. It will also assist in attracting and developing a highly-skilled health sciences workforce to strengthen Canada's healthcare system.

The project will accelerate production of its specialized packaging for Canadian drug manufacturers, support made-in-Canada pharmaceutical production and strengthen our biomanufacturing supply chain. This investment is making it possible to produce this type of packaging right here in Canada. In turn, this will position Canada as a leader in drug development and production, while creating 45 skilled jobs in London.

While in the London area, Minister Tassi also met with His Worship Josh Morgan, Mayor of the City of London, as well as other local stakeholders to discuss regional opportunities for economic growth.
