Canada Backs Poland's G7 Rapid Response Entry

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs,

today met with Radosław Sikorski, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Munich Security Conference, held from February 13 to 15, 2026, in Germany.

Minister Anand commended Poland on its accession to the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) as an associate member, noting that this will strengthen collective efforts to counter foreign threats to democracy. Poland brings deep expertise and insights to the G7 RRM.

The ministers also discussed the strength of the Canada-Poland strategic partnership and how to advance cooperation on defence, nuclear and wind energy, critical minerals and security. They also discussed opportunities to enhance defence industrial partnerships, including through the EU's Security Action for Europe instrument.

The ministers agreed to continue deepening the bilateral relationship, including through the first meeting of the Canada-Poland High-Level Steering Group later this year.
