Canada Names New Ambassador to Russia

Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the appointment of Sarah Taylor as Ambassador of Canada to the Russian Federation. She replaces Alison LeClaire.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Canada has suspended its bilateral cooperation with Russia and maintains only limited engagement with the country in multilateral forums.

In her new role, she will continue to work with Canada's allies and partners to hold Russia to account for its actions.
