Canberra Co. to Construct Residential Eating Disorder Facility

IQon Pty Ltd has been selected to design and construct Canberra's first residential eating disorder facility.

The centre will provide a home-like environment with specialised support for people with eating disorders, their families, and carers on their recovery journey.

It forms part of the ACT Government's stepped model of care for eating disorders, which links services together so that people can access the right support at the right time, with no out-of-pocket expenses or gap-fees.

IQon, a Canberra based company, was awarded the contract following an open tender process and is expected to complete construction of the centre by early 2024.

The ACT Government will now work closely with IQon to develop the final sketch plan of the centre, following draft designs being unveiled to the public in late-2022.

Quotes attributable to Minister Emma Davidson:

"Awarding this tender is an important step in improving the quality of care for people with eating disorders in the ACT."

"We have been carefully developing detailed designs for the centre in collaboration with the community and key stakeholders."
