Canberra Traffic Shifts Amid Ongoing Infrastructure Works

Construction is continuing on several major infrastructure projects across Canberra, with temporary traffic changes required throughout September and October.

Travel changes to support Light Rail Stage 2A construction

Construction of Light Rail Stage 2A between Alinga Street and Commonwealth Park will continue through September and October, with temporary road closures and lane reductions required on Northbourne Avenue and surrounding streets to safely deliver the works.

  • Full closure of Edinburgh Avenue intersection between London Circuit and Knowles Place, and London Circuit between Edinburgh Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue from 8pm Friday 18 September to 5am Monday 21 September.
  • Temporary closure of Gordon Street between Marcus Clarke St and London Circuit from 8pm Thursday 24 September to 5am Monday 28 September to enable track-related works

These temporary changes will impact how people travel to and around the city. Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, follow all detours and traffic control, and check live travel conditions before travelling.
