Canberrans are invited to new Woden Library open day

Canberrans are invited to experience the recently upgraded Woden Library and participate in a range of activities at an open day on Wednesday 20 April.

"From making paper planes designed by the Royal Australian Air Force, to story time with a local author and visiting the new inhouse recording studio, the Welcome to Woden Library open day will have something for everyone,'' said Libraries ACT Executive Branch Manager, Vanessa Little.

''The open day is being held during the school holidays and is a great opportunity for Canberrans to see what the Woden Library has to offer following the completion of a major upgrade last year.''

Some of the activities at the open day will include:

  • Paper Pilots, where 8-12-year-olds can learn how to make paper planes designed by the Royal Australian Air Force.
  • Tours of the new recording studio and an Introduction to Podcasting taster workshop.
  • Want to know about how voting will work in the upcoming federal election? Participate in your own election role play with electoral educator Krys Saclier, author of Vote for Me.
  • Contribute to the Imagine 2030 consultation, where the Canberra community is helping to design libraries of the future.
  • Seated yoga at lunchtime for ages 16+.
  • Make your own iconic Canberra bus stop.

"Libraries ACT staff are looking forward to welcoming back people to libraries. Some parents with young children born over the past two years may be unaware of activities that libraries host, such as the popular, Giggle and Wiggle, so The Welcome to Woden Library open day is a chance for them to find out more,'' said Ms Little.
