Each year in Western Australia, more than 14,000 people will be told "you have cancer", and will join tens of thousands of others living with, or after, cancer.
In addition to the physical toll that cancer takes on individuals, the mental and emotional toll can be substantial, which is why it's vitally important for those with cancer to be able to connect with others, especially those who may have been in a similar position.
That's where Cancer Connect comes in.
Cancer Connect is a free and confidential one-on-one telephone peer support program, where trained volunteers who have had a similar diagnosis or experienced similar treatment can help provide understanding, practical advice and emotional support to help West Australians through the next step of their cancer journey.
