Canowindra Volunteer Expo 2025 to Celebrate Community Spirit and Opportunity
Friday, 23 May 2025 will mark a celebration of community, connection and contribution, as the Canowindra Volunteer Expo brings together more than 30 local groups for a vibrant, free event at the Canowindra Services Club Auditorium from 10am to 4pm.
This special day, proudly organised by Canowindra Creative Centre Inc with support from Cabonne Council and The Centre for Volunteering, will shine a spotlight on the incredible dedication of volunteers and community organisations across Canowindra — and highlight just how vital their contributions are not only to our town's social fabric, but also to its economic wellbeing.
From sport and arts to emergency services, landcare, and social support, community and volunteer groups play a powerful role in making Canowindra a strong, supportive, and vibrant place to live. Whether you're looking to give back, meet new people, or simply explore the many activities happening around town, the Expo is the perfect chance to get involved.
The event will open with a 'Welcome to Country' by Leanne Stevenson, acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land and setting the tone for a day of unity and celebration.
Visitors will have the chance to meet face-to-face with organisations such as the Canowindra Men's Shed, SES, WIRES, CWA, St Vincent de Paul, Canowindra Squash Club, , among many others. The Expo aims to provide something for everyone — from social dance and creative crafts to land management and community care.
Bookings are essential for stallholders, but entry is free to the public, and all are encouraged to drop in throughout the day. As well as discovering new groups and services, it's a chance to support the friends, neighbours and family members who volunteer their time to strengthen our community.
"We want this day to not only celebrate the amazing work our local volunteers already do," said Deb Rutter, organiser of the Expo, "but to also help connect people who might be looking for purpose, passion, or simply a way to be more involved. You might be surprised at what's on offer in Canowindra."
The event will also feature a guest presentation by Clint Bertenshaw, Director of Sector Development and Engagement at the Centre for Volunteering. With decades of experience in community engagement and training, Clint brings valuable insight into how volunteering can empower individuals and build resilient, connected communities. The Centre itself is a leading voice in the NSW volunteering sector, offering support services, accredited training, and the prestigious NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
