Capitol Theatre Paves Way for Success

Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Atlantic Canada's communities offer inclusive, welcoming experiences that boost tourism, and build community connections and engagement. The Government of Canada is investing to help the arts and culture sector offer enhanced and accessible opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

Today, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of Defence, and Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, announced an investment of $212,795 through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency's (ACOA) Innovative Communities Fund (ICF) to the Capitol Theatre. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

With this support, the Capitol Theatre will replace the seats in its main hall and purchase a new sound console and LED panel system. This project will enhance the technical quality of live shows and the overall artistic experience. The project will also improve the venue's accessibility by adding barrier-free seats.

Today's announcement highlights how the Government of Canada is contributing to Atlantic Canada's momentum by strengthening our communities, creating new opportunities, and setting the stage for a strong, sustainable future.
