Bruce Highway Upgrade Advances at Dohles Rocks Road

Minister for Transport and Main Roads The Honourable Brent Mickelberg
  • A new milestone has been reached with centre median widening works now complete at Dohles Rocks Road.
  • This project is a key section of the upgrades to the Bruce Highway, jointly funded by Federal and State governments.
  • These works are improving capacity and connectivity on this section of the Bruce Highway, enabling progression to construction of new entry and exit ramps.

An important milestone has been reached on the Bruce Highway between Dohles Rocks Road and Anzac Avenue project, with the centre median widening works complete.

This progress allows the upgrades to move to the next stage, delivering new northbound entry and southbound exit ramps at Dohles Rocks Road, improving access to and from the Bruce Highway for local communities and reducing pressure on the surrounding road network.

The new ramps will extend to Anzac Avenue, providing auxiliary lanes between the two interchanges, increasing capacity and improving traffic flow on one of Queensland's busiest transport corridors.

Completing the median works allows traffic to be switched onto the newly constructed pavement, allowing work to begin on the new ramps.

This project is part of the Australian and Queensland Governments' jointly funded Bruce Highway Upgrade Program delivering improved safety, flood resilience and capacity along the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Cairns.

Acting Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Kristy McBain said the project would deliver much-needed upgrades for people living in Brisbane's north and Moreton Bay.

"The Albanese Government is making record investments in the Bruce to make it safer and more flood resilient. Now we're extending that investment south, upgrading the Bruce Highway's gateway to the Queensland capital as it heads through Brisbane's northern suburbs."

Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said completion of the widening works was another milestone in the Crisafulli Government's plan to fix the Bruce.

"We're delivering practical upgrades to manage growing traffic volumes and improve connectivity across North Brisbane and Moreton Bay," Minister Mickelberg said.

"The upgrade to this section of the Bruce is being delivered in the typical 80:20 funding partnership with the Commonwealth, just like we secured for the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program – it's partnerships like this which are essential for delivering projects of national significance.

"This is about getting people home sooner, supporting local communities and making the Bruce Highway safer and more reliable for everyone who relies on it."

Member for Dickson Ali France said smoother and more reliable commutes were on the way.

"Reaching this milestone on this critical upgrade is an important step towards improving traffic flow along this section of the Bruce Highway.

"The Albanese Government is investing in the roads, rail and other infrastructure Queensland needs to grow, and we're proud to be delivering this key upgrade with the Queensland Government.
