Car impounded by eagle-eyed police

Hume Crime Investigation unit detectives are expecting to lay charges on a probationary driver after they spotted a car that sped away from them sitting in a Meadow Heights driveway.

Police first came across the distinctive black Chrysler 300 sedan spinning its wheels on Pearcedale Parade, Broadmeadows.

Police attempted to pull over the car but it sped off, driving through a red light.

A short time later police spotted the Chrysler in a driveway on Nourell Court, Meadow Heights.

Detectives interviewed a 20-year-old Broadmeadows man, who is a probationary licence holder, and expect to lay charges on summons in relation to evade police and a range of other driving offences.

The Chrysler was also impounded at a cost of $896.
