Cardinia Shire Creatives: Join Arts Reference Group

Council is calling on local creatives to help shape the future of arts and culture across the shire, with expressions of interest now open to fill two vacancies on the Arts and Culture Reference Group

The reference group is made up of six community members and two councillor representatives – Cr Samantha-Jane Potter and Cr Casey Thomsen.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Brett Owen said reference group members worked together to promote community arts, support local artists and strengthen the cultural fabric of the shire through shared ideas, discussion and creative leadership.

"The Arts and Culture Reference Group plays a vital role in informing Council's vision for a vibrant, inclusive and thriving cultural landscape," Mayor Owen said.

"Bringing together diverse voices and experiences, the group provides valuable insights, advocacy and specialist knowledge to guide arts and culture initiatives across Cardinia Shire."

Expressions of interest are open to people with strong connections to Cardinia Shire who have an interest in arts and culture and who represent diverse perspectives and experiences. This includes, but is not limited to, artists, performers, educators and community leaders. The group meets regularly to discuss ongoing projects, explore new opportunities and foster collaboration among local creatives.

Community members can nominate themselves or someone else by completing a short online form, including a brief statement outlining their experience and interest in arts and culture.

Nominations close on Sunday 26 April. Membership on the reference group is for the remainder of the current two-year term (one year remaining).
