Cardinia Shire Council has appointed Councillors David Nickell and Trudi Paton as delegates to the Food and Agribusiness Advisory Committee and is issuing a final call for community members to join.
Cr Nickell and Cr Paton were appointed at the Council meeting on 16 February and will steer the committee in partnership with 10 community representatives and Council staff.
The committee will strengthen connections between Council and key agricultural stakeholders while providing strategic advice, identifying emerging issues, and advocating for industry needs.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen encouraged community members interested in joining the committee to express their interest by the 22 February deadline.
"This is an exciting opportunity for our community to help shape the future of food and agribusiness in Cardinia Shire," Mayor Owen said.
"By bringing local experience and industry knowledge to the table, committee members will help influence the priorities and initiatives that support a stronger, more resilient agricultural sector.
"We're calling on residents from diverse fields — farming, food production and manufacturing, science, technology and industry organisations — to put their hand up, contribute their insights and help drive the committee's direction."
Expressions of interest for the Food and Agribusiness Advisory Committee are open until 22 February.
