Nepean Hospital cardiologist, Dr Faraz Pathan was announced as one of the first speakers at TEDx Katoomba

Director of Cardiovascular Imaging and Heart Research, Dr Faraz Pathan and his research on cardiovascular health, stood out from over 100 local submissions to be selected as one of 16 speakers at the prestigious event.

Faraz knows firsthand the benefits of a healthy body and mind and is incredibly excited to share his research to a global audience.

His work at Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District has seen him successfully trial, fitbites, staff-led group exercise classes that encourage both a healthy body and mind.

"Regular physical activity has such positive impacts for both employees and employers, particularly in our shift-work driven environment. But often, we get busy with our workday schedules as well as our busy home schedules and we tend to find an excuse not to exercise. Having an on-site fitness program eliminates any excuse not to exercise," says Faraz.

"Even if it is for 15 minutes, I feel mentally and physically refreshed after exercising, and I feel ready to take on the next part of my day," Faraz added.

TEDx Katoomba is being held at Leura Community Hall in the Blue Mountains on 30 June 2023.
