Carisbrook projects continue

Works to deliver $6 million in infrastructure projects in Carisbrook is continuing.

The tender for Stage Four of the Carisbrook Levee project will be advertised this week, the $4.495 million upgrade to the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve has moved to stage three and restoration works are now complete on the Carisbrook Town Hall roof.

Central Goldfields Shire Tullaroop Ward Cr Anna De Villiers said it was wonderful to see these significant projects progress.

"It's fantastic to see the Town Hall roof restoration project now complete and the exciting next stage of the Recreation Reserve project underway. Our local community and recreational facilities are such valuable assets that keep our residents connected."

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said it was also pleasing to see finalisation of funding for Stage Four of the Levee project.

"We know it's the next, critical step in managing flood mitigation in Carisbrook, and to have the tender for Stage Four marks another important milestone in the project.

"We thank the Federal and State Government for their continued support in delivering this critical project and acknowledge that is has been a long process for our community of Carisbrook."

Carisbrook Flood Levee

Council has received $1.2 million for Stage Four (the final stage) of the Carisbrook Levee project, after a joint agreement between the Federal and State Government was finalised recently.

Council will also contribute $600,000 to the project.

The tender for Stage Four will be advertised this Friday, 11 February.

The final stage of the project, Stage Four, will be the construction of the Western Levee - south of Pyrenees Highway.

The Carisbrook Levee project was designed by specialists Entura in response to major floods which occurred in 2010 and 2011.

Carisbrook Recreation Reserve upgrade

Stage One and Two of the $4,495,000 Carisbrook Recreation Reserve upgrade project are now complete.

Stage Three has commenced and includes:

  • Female friendly player change rooms and amenities
  • Female friendly umpire change rooms and amenities
  • First aid room
  • Multi-purpose room for events and meetings
  • Office
  • New netball court with lighting

Jointly funded by Council and the Victorian Government, the project will deliver an accessible and inclusive modern sporting facility and community hub for the growing population of Carisbrook and district.

Carisbrook Town Hall

Vital restoration works on the Carisbrook Town Hall roof are now complete. The project included maintenance to the slate roofing, guttering, downpipes, roof vents, flashings and repairs to the damaged section of chimney render.

The $190,283 project was fully funded by the Federal Government's Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Fund.
