Carlton robbery and assault

Investigators from Melbourne Embona Task Force are hoping to identify two women following a robbery where a woman was assaulted in Carlton last month.

Police have been told the victim, a xx-year-old woman, was entering an apartment building on Elgin Street when she noticed two other women by the front door about 2am on 21 June.

As she let herself in the women followed her before grabbing and assaulting her.

The victim tried to flee, but the offenders continued to threaten and assault her before stealing the woman's handbag.

Investigators have released a CCTV still of two women who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, recognises the women, or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
