Delivering on Hume's Community Vision, driving infrastructure and economic development, and enhancing liveability across Hume's growth and established areas were key themes in the acceptance speech of Hume City's new Mayor, Councillor Carly Moore.

Cr Moore, who represents Aitken Ward, was elected Mayor of Hume City by her fellow councillors, with Yubup Ward Cr Ally Watson elected Deputy Mayor, at Council's Statutory Meeting at the Council Chambers, Hume Global Learning Centre - Broadmeadows on Wednesday 12 November.

Cr Moore's appointment makes her the first four-time elected Mayor in Hume's history, and she spoke of her commitment to working together, building a community for all residents, and achieving positive outcomes as a council team.

"Earlier this year, Council endorsed the Community Vision for Hume: a thriving community with a strong sense of belonging. As Mayor, I'm proud to stand alongside our community in championing this vision," Cr Moore said.

Now in the second year of the current council term, Cr Moore vowed to work with her fellow councillors to continue the important work already underway, while looking ahead to 2026.

"As we enter our second year of this council term, I'm proud of the culture of collaboration we've built. We need to ensure we deliver an outstanding Council that serves its residents."

This year's leadership team also marks an historic moment with Cr Ally Watson elected Deputy Mayor, making it the first all-female leadership team in Hume's history.

The new leadership team reflects the diversity and strength of the Hume community.

Cr Watson, who has called Hume home for 10 years, joins Cr Moore, whose family has lived in Hume since the 1960s. Together, they represent the story of Hume as a city of growth suburbs and long-standing communities, united by a shared vision for the future.

Cr Moore says fighting for the needs of our established and growth suburbs will create a foundation for her time as Mayor.

"Looking ahead, the upcoming state election presents a vital opportunity to advocate for Hume. Just like other parts of Melbourne, we deserve the very best of services and infrastructure, great schools, safe roads and healthcare when and where we need it," Cr Moore said.

With this as her fourth time in the Mayor role, Cr Moore hopes to lead with a view to achieving positive outcomes for Hume through hard work and community focus.

"As I step into this role again, I will work hard. I will listen. I will lead with honesty, integrity and heart and I will strive to ensure every resident – regardless of background or circumstance – feels seen, heard, and valued."
