Construction is well underway on the new $63.5 million Carss Park Pool, marking a major milestone in the delivery of a new aquatic facility for the Kogarah Bay community.
Piling and inground works are progressing, with the foundations now taking shape for a new pool and facilities that will serve the community for decades to come.
The new facility is on track to open in late 2027 and will include an eight-lane, 50-metre outdoor pool, a 20-metre outdoor Learn to Swim pool and modern amenities including toilets, change rooms, family spaces and a kiosk.
Once complete, the new Carss Park Pool will provide a modern recreation, competition and Learn to Swim facility for local families, schools, swimmers and the broader community.
The Kogarah War Memorial Pool at Carss Park closed in 2019 after it was found to be polluting Kogarah Bay.
The much-loved pool has a proud history of producing some of Australia's greatest swimmers, including former Olympian Janelle Pallister, mother of current Olympic gold medallist Lani Pallister.
Following strong community advocacy, all three levels of government are working together to deliver this important community facility. The $63.5 million project is being jointly funded by with the Minns Labor Government committing $38.5 million, the Albanese Labor Government $10 million and Georges River Council $15 million.
ADCO Constructions is leading construction of the new facility under the guidance of the NSW Office of Sport and NSW Public Works.
