The Allan Labor Government is continuing to deliver better healthcare for the Berwick community, with more locals accessing high quality health care, closer to home.
Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne was joined by Michael Galea and Lee Tarlamis, Members for South-Eastern Metropolitan Region, to visit Casey Hospital to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the installation of a new CT scanner and to hear from hard-working clinicians.
Marking the 12-month milestone, the new $1.7m high tech CT scanner was delivered through the Allan Labor Government's Medical Equipment Replacement Program.
By investing in medical imaging at Casey Hospital, more patients can get the care they need sooner and clinicians are able to treat patients with better reliability and efficiency when they need it most.
The new CT Scanner allows staff to deliver more than 15,000 examinations per year. The state-of-the-art scanner is delivering benefits for patients, such as lower radiation doses, advanced image reconstruction to assist clinical diagnoses and more comfortable patient positioning.
Established by the Labor Government in 2015, the Medical Equipment Replacement Program has provided $315 million to projects, delivering new, essential medical equipment for acute services in public hospitals. More than $43.4 million of this funding has supported critical health upgrades at Monash Health.
