The City of Casey has welcomed the completion of the Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection Upgrade, which will deliver safer and more reliable journeys for thousands of residents travelling through Clyde North each day.
The upgraded intersection opened to traffic seven months ahead of schedule, replacing the former roundabout with traffic lights and additional lanes to improve traffic flow for the more than 47,000 vehicles that use the intersection every day.
Council advocated for improvements to the intersection for several years before funding was committed by the Australian Government during the 2025 Federal Election campaign.
The opening marks a significant milestone for Casey's growing community and demonstrates the impact of sustained advocacy for much-needed transport infrastructure.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther said the project would improve everyday travel for local families, commuters and businesses.
"This upgrade is a fantastic outcome for our community and one that residents have been calling for over many years. As Casey continues to grow, it's critical that investment in our transport network keeps pace so people can get to work, school, appointments and local activities safely and efficiently.
"We're pleased to see this important project delivered and grateful to the Australian and Victorian governments for their investment in this vital road corridor."
This completion of this project is an important step forward to improve connections across Melbourne's south-east. Through the Building a Better Casey campaign, Council continues to advocate and prioritise investment in roads and infrastructure across the city.
