Caught McNapping In Southbank

Police have arrested a man asleep in a stolen vehicle at a fast-food restaurant carpark in the CBD overnight.

Officers were notified of a stolen Toyota Landcruiser being driven in Melton about 1.30am on Sunday 27 July.

The vehicle was followed through the suburbs of Thomastown, Preston, Thornbury, Fairfield, Alphington, Clifton Hill, Fitzroy, Abbottsford and into the CBD.

Police caught up with the vehicle when it stopped at a fast-food restaurant on City Rd in Southbank.

A passenger asleep in the backseat of the vehicle, a 30-year-old of no fixed address, was arrested and is yet to be interviewed.

The driver of the vehicle was inside the restaurant at the time and fled the scene.

The silver Landcruiser was stolen from a Balaclava address on 20 July.
