CCTV images released, appeal after assault on bus at Rockdale

Police have released CCTV images and are appealing for information following an assault on a bus in Sydney's south last month.

About 4.50am on Thursday 7 January 2021, a man boarded the N11 bus at Rockdale Bus Interchange without wearing a face mask or paying a fare.

Police have been told the man was involved in an altercation with the bus driver and a short time later, headbutted a 54-year-old male passenger, before exiting the bus.

The passenger was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital suffering lacerations to his face.

The incident was reported to police, and officers from Police Transport Command's South and South West Transport Action Group commenced an investigation.

As part of ongoing inquiries, investigators have released CCTV images of a man that may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is depicted as being of medium build and aged in his 20s.

At the time of the incident was wearing a black jacket and a Chicago Bulls cap.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or any witnesses to come forward.
