CCTV released as police continue to investigate Fawkner hit-run

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage with the hope of identifying a vehicle after a fatal hit-run collision in Fawkner on Saturday.

Detectives believe a man was fatally struck by a vehicle in the north-bound lanes of Sydney Road, near Disney Street, about 1.35am on 8 January.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and continued north along Sydney Road before turning left into Camp Road.

Sadly, the 30-year-old Fawkner man was located deceased at the scene.

Detectives now believe the vehicle of interest is a dark-coloured 2012-2015 Audi Q7.

The vehicle would have frontal damage between its two head lights and damage to the bonnet.

As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives have today released an image of a vehicle similar to the one of interest, in the hope someone may recognise it.

They have also released CCTV footage of a dark-coloured vehicle travelling along Sydney Road following the collision.

Detectives urge anyone who recognises the vehicle or its owner to come forward to police.

Any witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage or other information that could assist detectives is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at
