"Senior former public servants and the financial sector are directly rejecting the Treasurer's snaky assumptions in his broken Budget that pushed debt over $1 trillion and is increasing interest rates and supermarket prices", said Shadow Treasurer, Tim Wilson.
Mr Wilson's comments follow reports that former Treasury and Prime Minister's Department Secretary, Phil Gaetjens, has directly challenged Budget assumptions, as well as financial adviser, Chris Brycki, and data showing Budget spending pushed national debt over $1 trillion.
"The Treasurer's broken Budget suffers from original sin: the Prime Minister and Treasurer snakily went to the last election saying 50-times over they wouldn't introduce new family savings taxes. Since their Budget the Prime Minister and Treasurer have continued to snake around the truth and Australians are now being strangled through higher interest rates and prices at the supermarket, with higher debt to follow", Mr Wilson said.
"The Prime Minister and Treasurer are being strangled by their own snaky decisions: rising rents, first home prices, and public debt and all to feed the Albanese active inflation agenda".
"The cost of the Albanese government's Budget keeps unfolding and while debt and costs for households rise, the Australian people are going backward".
"The only thing Jim Chalmers' Budget is designed to do is stoke inflation, tax inflation and spend inflation in a vicious cycle to feed the Albanese active inflation agenda".
