CLB3X3 BASKETBALL and the Council along with the support of the Benalla Basketball Association brings you 3 Days of 3X3 action, slam dunks, 3-point shoot outs and FIBA3X3 World ranking points.
Champions League Basketball are heading to Benalla for the first time to set up their 3x3 showcourt and festive atmosphere on the tennis courts inside the Benalla Botanical Gardens, Friday 21 April through to Sunday 23 April 2023.
This will mark their finale event for the 22/23 CLB Summer Series , "It has been exciting to see the participation build year-on-year from both a local perspective and with teams traveling in to compete and we are excited to conclude our 22/23 season in Benalla with the hope it is a big turnout for this first-time event." said Director of Champions League Basketball Yvette Williams.
"Councils and community stakeholders play a big part in bringing these community events to the region and since the debut of 3X3 basketball at the Tokyo Olympics and more recently at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where Australia brought home Bronze, Silver and Gold, we have seen the sport advance significantly in player interest and the spectators that come and enjoy the game as well, right across the country"
Set up as a specialised 3X3 showcourt for the 3 days, players and spectators can enjoy Free Come n Try sessions, 3-point shoot outs, food trucks and of course the main competitions ranging from Under 13's right through to Open Social and Elite levels.
"I'm really excited to see the final edition of the Australian CLB3X3 basketball come to Benalla," Benalla Rural City Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn said.
"This gives our basketball players a chance to compete in a global event, while showcasing our region to new visitors.
"Benalla residents are encouraged to come down to the Botanical Gardens Tennis Courts over the weekend and soak up the festival atmosphere."
Junior players have the chance to win great prizes, whilst the Open's teams will play for prize money. All players will create an official FIBA3x3 player profile (https://play.fiba3x3.com/signup) and receive FIBA3X3 world ranking points for their town and country whilst enjoying a fun, inclusive and family friendly environment. The event will also feature a pop-up barber shop offering court side hair cuts while you enjoy all the action.
Spectators can enjoy entry to the event for free while team registrations start at $120 per team for the Juniors, $150 per team for the Open's and Elite levels.
Players will then be able to see their points go live under their profile at the conclusion of the event and keep up to date with all the latest 3X3 news worldwide. This is an open & inclusive event and there is no requirement to be part of a club or association to compete in a CLB3X3 event.
Once players have their profiles, they can then register as a team of three to four by heading to www.clb3x3.com/events and searching "Benalla" to find their category.
**Teams will play a min of three pool games plus finals and have an automatic entry in to their categories 3- point shoot out competition.
