Changed traffic conditions for Targa GBR

Cairns Regional Council advises that there will be road closures and changed traffic conditions from Friday (3 September) for the Targa Great Barrier Reef tarmac rally.

Temporary road closures will occur at various locations across the Cairns region and neighbouring local government areas from Friday 3 September to Sunday 5 September.

Notably, this year's Kuranda Range Stage is on Saturday and will require the range to be closed between 8.30am and noon.

As well as the race stages, Cairns residents are advised of two special events associated with Targa, the TARGACavalcade on Friday and TARGAfest on Sunday afternoon.

The TARGACavalcade will take place on Friday from 3.30pm to 4.45pm, with Targa entrants travelling through Aeroglen, Stratford, Freshwater, Kamerunga, Redlynch and finally Brinsmead under police escort.

On Sunday, coinciding with Father's Day, $12 million worth of vehicles, including sports, luxury and muscle cars, will go on display as part of TARGAfest, from 3pm to 5pm at Fogarty Park.
