Charges Filed in Fatal Mothar Mountain Crash

Police have charged a woman following investigations into a fatal traffic crash at Mothar Mountain earlier this year.

It will be alleged around 7am on 28 April, 2026, a 62-year-old Mothar Mountain woman was walking her dog on Okeefe Road when she was struck by a blue Honda Jazz, driven by a 24-year-old Southside woman.

The 62-year-old woman sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

Following ongoing investigations, officers from the Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit today charged a 24-year-old Southside woman.

She has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and did drive U.I.L. (motor vehicle).

The woman is due to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on 28 September.
