Charges follow Essendon carjacking

Detectives from Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit have charged two teenagers following an alleged carjacking in Essendon yesterday afternoon (14 August).

It is alleged a black BMW was rammed by a white Nissan on Rose Street about 12.30pm.

Investigators have been told while expecting the damage to her BMW, the female victim was allegedly assaulted by a male offender before he stole the car.

Police arrested three males on Glenroy Road, Glenroy a short time later.

An 18-year-old Broadmeadows man has been charged with:

• carjacking;

• robbery;

• two counts of theft;

• two counts of theft of motor vehicle; and

• drive in a dangerous manner

He was bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on 24 September.

A 17-year-old boy from Glenroy has been charged with:

• carjacking;

• robbery;

• theft;

• theft of motor vehicle;

• drive in a dangerous manner; and

• learner driver drive without experienced driver.

He will appear at a children's court at a later date.

A 20-year-old Glenroy man was released and is expected to be charged on summons for driving related offences.
