Charges laid over 2012 North Sydney armed robbery, NSW

A man has been charged in relation to the alleged armed robbery of a group of men at North Sydney in 2012, NSW Police say.

About 2am on Friday 16 March 2012, four men aged in their 20s were walking on Alfred Street, North Sydney, when two vehicles stopped alongside them.

Four men got out of the two vehicles, and allegedly threatened the group with a baseball bat and electronic stun device, demanding the backpacks they were carrying.

It’s believed an altercation took place and one man was struck with the electronic stun device.

The men took two backpacks containing cash and electronics before fleeing the scene.

Police attended and established a crime scene for forensic examination.

Following extensive inquiries by North Shore Police Area Command, on Tuesday 6 November 2018, a 24-year-old man was taken to Goulburn Police Station.

He was charged with robbery whilst armed/in company and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on 13 December 2018.

Police inquiries continue to locate three men believed to be involved.
