Charges laid over historical sexual assault in Randwick

Police have charged a man over a historical sexual assault which is alleged to have occurred in Sydney’s east in the 1970s, NSW Police say.

In September 1976, police will allege a man sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman at a house in Daintrey Place, Randwick.

The woman reported the incident to officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command in December 2017, who then commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, yesterday (Friday 24 August 2018), a 66-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offence of rape.

He is due to appear before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 10 October 2018.
