Charges over Coogee home invasion, pursuit to Alexandria, NSW

Two men are due in court today charged following an alleged home invasion in South Coogee and subsequent pursuit to Alexandria.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called to reports of a home invasion in Jensen Place, South Coogee, just after midday (Saturday 26 January 2019).

While on the way to the scene, police saw a white 4WD – believed to have been connected to the incident on Malabar Road – and a brief pursuit took place to Anzac Parade, where officers lost sight of the vehicle.

Subsequently, the police airwing, PolAir, tracked the 4WD to a terrace house on Campbell Street, Alexandria, and a perimeter was established.

Entry was forced into the building and four men were found inside.

Two of the men, aged 28 and 50, were taken to hospital in a stable condition due to suspected drug use.

Police arrested the other two – a 28-year-old man from Ashfield and a 25-year-old man from Redfern – and took them to Redfern Police Station

The older man has been charged with aggravated enter dwelling with knowing people there, and police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously.

The younger man has been charged with aggravated enter dwelling with knowing people there and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

Both men have been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 27 January 2019).
