Detectives from Mildura Crime Investigation Unit have today charged a man with murder as part of their investigation into a fatal assault in Mildura earlier this year.
A 24-year-old Mildura man was initially charged with affray and intentionally cause injury in circumstances of gross violence and those charges remain in place.
The matter was then reviewed by investigators with assistance from Homicide Squad detectives, and the man was subsequently charged with murder.
He remains remanded in custody to appear at Mildura Magistrates' Court on 17 December.
The charges follow an incident involving a number of people outside a property on Brodie Close on 20 September.
Police attended and located a 35-year-old Mildura man with stab wounds.
He was transported to hospital but subsequently passed away on 18 October as a result of his injuries.
A 44-year-old Mildura woman also sustained a minor head injury during the incident.
Two other men were also charged in relation to the incident and their charges remain unchanged.
An 18-year-old Mildura man was charged with affray and intentionally cause injury in circumstances of gross violence, while 30-year-old man was charged with affray and common law assault.
The duo was bailed to appear at Mildura Magistrates' Court on 17 December.
