Charges upgraded after Hawthorn East death

Homicide Squad detectives have today charged a man with manslaughter following the death of a man in Hawthorn East earlier this year.

A 59-year-old Hawthorn East man was initially charged with four offences including recklessly cause serious injury and intentionally cause serious injury.

This has now been upgraded to a manslaughter charge.

The man will appear again at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 28 October.

The charge relates to the death of a 63-year-old Hawthorn East man during an alleged altercation at a Burke Road address on 31 July.
