Hundreds of residents dropped off more than 35 tonnes of chemical waste at Council's annual Chemical CleanOut over the weekend, making it one of the most successful events yet.
The annual event gives residents the chance to dispose of their unwanted hazardous chemicals around their homes or garages including household cleaners, pesticides and herbicides, poisons, pool chemicals and much more.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was fantastic to see almost 1,000 cars attend and take advantage of the service.
"As a community we produce all types of waste around our house and Council is committed to helping our residents dispose of their waste correctly," Cr Fedeli said.
"It is important as a community that we continue doing the right thing to help keep our environment in pristine condition.
"I have received some great feedback from the community about the Chemical CleanOut and how great it was."
Council runs, and supports, a number of waste services for residents to take advantage of, including:
- Three free kerbside collection services per residential property, per financial year;
- A battery recycling program, in partnership with Campbelltown and Wollondilly Councils;
- A free quarterly recycling drop-off day, to help manage the extra recycling material;
- A free Electronic-waste service available to residents and small businesses; and
- The NSW Government's Return and Earn program, for eligible drink containers.
