A woman has been charged with assaulting a child at a childcare centre in the Hunter Valley region.
In June 2026, officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District commenced an investigation after being informed that a worker at a childcare centre on Paterson Road, Bolwarra, had allegedly assaulted a child in her care.
It will be alleged the 22-year-old woman assaulted a 4-year-old boy in her care on Wednesday 24 June 2026
About 1.30pm today (Wednesday 1 July 2026), investigators arrested the woman at a home in the Hunter Region
She was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with common assault and child subjected to corporal punishment - staff member etc.
She was granted conditional bail to appear at Maitland Local Court on Wednesday 22 July 2026.
