Childcare Worker Charged With Assault At Bathurst

A childcare worker has been charged with assaulting a child in the state's central west earlier this year.

On Friday 29 August 2025, police attached to Chifley Police District commenced an investigation after receiving a report of a four-year-old boy being assaulted at a daycare centre on George Street, Bathurst.

It will be alleged that around midday on Friday 11 July 2025, an 18-year-old female staff member grabbed the child by the arm and dragged him across the room, then grabbed the child a second time before throwing him onto a mattress.

During the incident, the child's shirt was allegedly torn near the armpit.

Following extensive enquiries, the 18-year-old woman was today (Monday 22 September 2025), issued with a Court Attendance Notice for common assault.

She is due to appear before Bathurst Local Court on Monday 17 November 2025.

The woman is no longer employed by the childcare centre.
